The Chawazelet ( Eng . Lily ; Hebrew חבצלת Ḥaḇatzeleth ) was a Hebrew literary magazine published in Jerusalem from 1863 to 1911 .

The magazine was founded by Israel Back and edited between 1869 and 1911 by his son-in-law Israel Dow Frumkin , a pioneer of Hebrew journalism . Both were Hasidic Jews. Abraham Luncz and Elieser Ben-Jehuda , who is regarded as a pioneer of modern Hebrew, also worked as editorial assistants for the magazine .

Chawatzelet is also the name of the publishing house and the printing company, so the newspaper should also advertise the publisher's name. The print shop was located in the Muslim Quarter of Jerusalem's Old City . With over 40 years of publication, the magazine had the longest publication period in Palestine to date . In Jerusalem the street Rechow Chawatzelet was named after her .
