chembid is a commercial meta search engine for chemicals and plastics . The B2B platform enables buyers and sellers of chemicals and plastics to interact globally with one another using the comprehensive search engine. The operator of the offer launched in 2017 is Chembid GmbH from Oldenburg .
history
The company was initially founded in July 2016 as "BÜFA-i" by the BÜFA Group, a medium-sized chemical company founded in Oldenburg in 1883 , in order to promote digital change within the chemical industry. At the beginning of 2017, the name was changed to chembid GmbH und Co. KG.
At the end of 2018, the Stockmeier Group , an international chemical distributor, took part as the second chembid shareholder.
As of 2020, over 5 million product offers - in particular commodities, specialties and plastics - from over 145,000 providers from more than 150 countries are represented on the chembid platform (as of January 2020). chembid supports the German and English language as well as Mandarin .
Offer and services
The foundation of the chembid platform is the global meta search engine for chemicals and plastics. This aggregates offers from external marketplaces and connected web shops in order to subsequently make them accessible to platform users. In this way, the search engine supports buyers and sellers of chemicals and plastics in the digital processing of commercial transactions. Using a filter system, the search results can be adjusted by provider location, price, marketplace, quality / grade, unit of measure , Incoterms and currency .
chembid provides an overview of the available offers from individual marketplaces and web shops. If the user is interested in one of the products shown on chembid, he will be forwarded to the chembid marketplace or the corresponding partner platform in order to make an inquiry there or to buy the product directly.
Another component of the chembid platform is the integrated marketplace. Suppliers of chemicals and plastics can post their offers free of charge using their own marketplace profile and use this function to make them findable using the chembid search engine.
