The Chemnitz-Komotauer Eisenbahngesellschaft was a railway company in Saxony . She was the owner and operator of the Reitzenhain – Flöha railway and the branch line to Olbernhau (Flöhatalbahn) that branches off at Pockau-Lengefeld station . In 1876 the company was nationalized.

history

The first plans for the construction of a railway into the upper Flöhatal and to Marienberg existed as early as 1863. In 1868 the Saxon state parliament approved the granting of a license and stipulated that the line should be built with private capital. In 1869 a state treaty was concluded with Austria on the border crossing.

The Chemnitz-Komotau Railway Company was not founded until August 15, 1871. On December 7, 1874, she received the concession to build the line from Flöha to Reitzenhain with a branch to Olbernhau. The railway construction company Pleßner & Co. from Berlin was commissioned with the construction .

The groundbreaking ceremony took place on February 22, 1872. Due to the economic crisis of 1873 Pleßner & Co. got into economic difficulties, so that the railway company was forced to take over the construction itself from now on. In the spring of 1875 the line was finally completed. The route was officially opened on May 24, 1875.

The construction of the line as well as the first year of operation with heavy losses forced the company to offer the railway to the Saxon state for purchase in March 1876. On December 4, 1876, the line was transferred to the Kingdom of Saxony for 9.9 million marks. This was a low price for this route and, among other things, meant that the company was left with a loss of around 10 million marks. The operator and owner of the line were henceforth the Royal Saxon State Railways .
