As Genus III b designated Royal Saxon State Railways Schlepptender locomotives for the express train service.

The Deutsche Reichsbahn assigned most of the locomotives from 1925 to the 34.77-78 series and one more to the 52.70 series .

history

Saxon IIIb, road number 446; Built by Hartmann in 1893

Between 1873 and 1901 were purchased from Hartmann , Henschel and Schwartzkopff total of 204 locomotives delivered to the Royal Saxon State Railways. In the course of production there were always modifications. 18 vehicles were built as compound machines.

The Reichsbahn took over 91 machines and assigned the company numbers 34 7701, 34 7702 and 34 7721 to 34 7808.

Reconstruction of the Saxon genus III

Later, 14 machines of the Saxon class III were equipped with a Nowotny type steering axle and these locomotives were also classified as the Saxon IIIb. One locomotive was included in the final numbering plan from 1925 and was given the DR number 52 7001.

The locomotives were with a Tender respondents to type sa 3 T 7.5 and sa 3 T 9 equipped.
