List of locomotive and multiple unit series of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (1945–1993)
The locomotive and multiple unit series of the Deutsche Reichsbahn in the GDR are arranged according to the series scheme from July 1, 1970. The series were redrawn on January 1, 1992 in preparation for the merger of the railways according to the DB series scheme of January 1, 1968.
From 1945 the Deutsche Reichsbahn continued the existing series scheme for its vehicles . The additions and changes made can be found under the series scheme of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (1945–1993) .
Especially in the area of locomotives taken over from private railways, this list does not represent a complete picture of all series.
Steam locomotives
In the DR numbering plan, the following assignments to sub-series were also common:
- xx .5 xxx and xx .6 xxx locomotives that came from nationalized private railways.
From 1970 the following sub-series were introduced for all steam locomotives , whereby the serial number was basically four digits:
- xx .0 oil- fired locomotives
- xx .1–8 grate- fired locomotives
- xx .9 locomotives with pulverized coal combustion
