The locomotives of the 23.10 series (from June 1, 1970, the 35.10 series ) were passenger locomotives of the Deutsche Reichsbahn .

history

The 23/10 series was an evolution of the war caused in only two copies built einheitsdampflokomotive of class 23 by the German Reichsbahn. However, only the dimensions of the drive and running gear were adopted. The locomotives received a mixing preheater of the type IfS / DR and boiler with combustion chambers , and the driver's cab was designed more generously. From company number 23 1003 onwards, the feed dome was dispensed with. The total of 113 copies put into service since 1955, which were also used in light to medium-heavy express train service , were given the road numbers 23 1001–1113. With the introduction of EDP-compatible numbering on January 1, 1970, the locomotives were given the new operating numbers 35 1001–1113.

The last locomotives were taken out of service in Nossen in May 1977, but the 35 1113 was reactivated due to the energy crisis in the GDR and used until 1985.

Several locomotives of this series still exist today:

Constructive execution and performance

In contrast to the prototype locomotives of the DR class 23, the basis of the class 23.10 was a welded sheet metal frame with upper and lower chords and 25 mm cheek thickness. The boiler including the fire box was also made of welded steel, the tube length was 4200 mm. A suction steam jet pump and a composite mixing pump VMP 15-20 type BBW (250 l / min) were installed to feed the boiler.

The front running axle (with ± 115 mm side play) and the first coupling axle (with ± 10 mm side play) were designed as a Krauss-Helmholtz steering frame , the trailing axle as a Bissel frame with ± 55 mm side play. The chassis is designed as a four-point support.

The steam engine was driven by the second coupling axle, and the series locomotive was equipped with Trofimoff slides .

With the DR series 50.40 , the 23.10 had many identical parts, such as the boiler, smoke chamber, driver's cab and tender.

The locomotives could move a train of 365 t on the plain at 110 km / h and on a 10 per thousand gradient still 335 t at 60 km / h or 565 t at 40 km / h.
