99 series
Class 99 is the generic name of all narrow-gauge steam locomotives of the Deutsche Reichsbahn or its successor companies. It is thus divided into many sub-series, which are listed in this table.
When the series scheme was converted to computer-readable numbers, the series number of the Deutsche Bundesbahn was preceded by a 0 (099 123-x) in 1968, and the serial number was expanded to four digits by the Deutsche Reichsbahn in 1970, whereby locomotives with a four-digit serial number retained their previous number (99 1234 -x) and locomotives with a three-digit serial number was preceded by an additional number indicating the gauge, 1 and 4 for 750 mm, 2 for 900 mm, 3 for 600 mm and 5 to 7 for 1000 mm.
With the introduction of the DB numbering scheme at the Deutsche Reichsbahn in 1992, the remaining locomotives were classified in the 099 series.
