Locomotive No. 9 in the third occupation of the Mecklenburg-Pomerania Narrow Gauge Railway (MPSB) was a four-axle superheated steam locomotive manufactured by Vulcan in 1925 . The Deutsche Reichsbahn designated the locomotive from April 1, 1949 as 99 3461.

history

With the acquisition of No. 9 III , the procurement of locomotives , which had been interrupted by the First World War , was continued. Due to the positive experience with the superheated steam locomotive No. 8 II , another machine of this design has now been acquired. A tender locomotive was chosen in order to have a greater range for the planned network south of Friedland. In 1949 the locomotive became part of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. This placed them together with No. 12 II in the 99.346 series. The locomotive was in use until 1969, most recently on the Friedland – Anklam route. In 1972 it was sold to the French museum railway Chemin de fer Froissy-Dompierre . It was used there for a few years. After the boiler deadline it was turned off, since 1999 it has been refurbished and a. she received a new boiler. It has been operational again since July 2014.

Constructive features

The 99 3461 repainted in Reichsbahn livery (May 28, 2017)

The locomotive had a sheet metal outer frame. Behind the slightly conical chimney was the Latowski type of steam burner. The big round steam dome sat in the middle of the boiler. Behind it was the angular sandpit. The steam whistle on the driver's cab roof was later moved to the standing boiler. The inlet pipes in the cylinders were covered. The cauldron was 1.58 meters high and offered a clear view underneath.

The external superheated steam engine was slightly inclined, worked on the third axis and had a Heusinger control.

The driver's cab had a ventilation attachment. The roof of the driver's cab was pulled over the tender bridge. The driver's cab was accessed via the tender bridge. The sand spreader sanded the third axle from the front and rear. The locomotive was equipped with a vapor barrier. The Deutsche Reichsbahn later added an AEG turbo generator for electrical lighting.

The tender had an outer frame. The design was based on the Prussian architecture.
