In the series 99164 , the ordered German Reichsbahn (DR) in 1944 originally for the three Chilean military railway provided Vineyard - steam locomotives of the type Kitson-Meyer one. After 1945 the locomotives stayed in Poland . There they were given the name Tyy 1.

history

After Orenstein & Koppel (O&K) had delivered the prototype of a Kitson-Meyer locomotive for the 600 mm gauge to the Chilean military railway in 1927, an order for three locomotives followed in 1937. In 1939 the locomotives with the serial numbers 13306 to 13308 were completed. Due to the beginning of the Second World War , the vehicles were no longer delivered to Chile . This was followed by trials on the Rehagen-Klausdorf military training area and probably also on the Mecklenburg-Pomerania narrow-gauge railway through O&K. In 1944, the Deutsche Reichsbahn acquired the locomotives in order to use them on routes in occupied Poland. Therefore, in the second half of the same year they were handed over to the Gedob Directorate in Krakow, where they were stationed in the Jedrzejow BW .

After the war ended, the machines remained in Poland and were used in a narrow-gauge network near Krakow . The PKP redrawn them as Tyy 1-691 through Tyy 1-693. After re-gauging their route to 750 mm, the 691 and 692 were moved to Mława . These two locomotives were retired on April 29, 1961. In 1955 the Tyy 1-693 was sold to the Solvay soda factory near Cracow.

Constructive features

The locomotives had riveted bridge and bogie frames. The boiler , driver's cab , storage container and ash box were also riveted. The engines at the two ends of the bogie worked on the middle set of axles. This wheel set could also be sanded. The control was designed as a Heusinger type . While the prototype had a Westinghouse brake , the series locomotives had a Knorr brake . The air pump was attached to the rear plenum chamber, while the main air reservoir was on top of the plenum chamber. The locomotive had electrically operated headlights.
