The technical information relates to the locomotive 99 3001. |
The steam locomotives of the Monta type from Henschel were intended for use in industrial and construction companies. The double-coupled locomotives were produced in the period from 1910 to 1942 in the gauges from 600 mm to 1435 mm with over 400 copies. Several copies have survived worldwide.
Constructive features
The locomotives had a sheet metal inner frame. The small kettle had a very short smoke chamber. The steam dome was right behind the chimney. The safety valve was flanged on. The angular sand container was located in the middle of the boiler. The hand-operated sand device sanded the rear wheelset from the front.
The steam engine with flat slide worked on the rear axle and had a Heusinger control.
The driver's cab had no roof vent. It was drawn in in the lower area.
The locomotive 99 3001 also received a bell and an alternator.
DR 99 3001
After the end of the Second World War, a large part of the narrow-gauge lines in Mecklenburg and Western Pomerania were dismantled as reparations. However, since many of the routes were vital for the rural region, the Soviet military administration ordered the reconstruction of some routes. This also included the Jarmen - Schmarsow line of the former Demminer Kleinbahn (east) . This was produced with a gauge of 600 mm instead of the original 750 mm. Operations began on June 22, 1949.
Since the Mecklenburg-Pommersche Schmalspurbahn AG (MPSB), which is responsible for the operation, did not have enough locomotives available due to the reparation charges. A double-coupled locomotive of the Monta type was purchased. The locomotive was built in 1924 with the serial number 20452 for Hütten AG Berlin. Later it was in use at the Radom sugar factory as "B 012". At the MPSB, the machine was given a two-axle water tender to increase its range. When the MPSB was taken over by the Deutsche Reichsbahn, the locomotive was given the road number 99 3001. When the line was closed in 1958, the locomotive was also decommissioned and scrapped in 1966.
