The Spremberger Stadtbahn No. 12 was a two - axle meter - gauge tank locomotive of the Spremberger Stadtbahn .

history

In 1938 the Orenstein & Koppel locomotive factory delivered a locomotive with the serial number 13 178 to the Spremberger Stadtbahn .

The machine was in use on the so-called coal railway, on which coal from the surrounding coal mines was fed to the industrial plants in the Spremberg city area. After the traffic ceased in 1956, the locomotive came to the Deutsche Reichsbahn and was upgraded in the RAW Görlitz for use on the Harzquerbahn . It was given the road number 99 5201.

However, the stocks were too small for use on the route with steep inclines, so that when shunting operations were carried out, it was mostly in the Nordhausen-Nord station. On November 6, 1968 she was retired; four years later it was scrapped.

technical features

It was noticeable that it was again a wet steam locomotive, although the railway had had good experiences with a superheated steam locomotive, No. 11 . So it wasn't as powerful as the No. 11, even though it was bigger and heavier. This led to a restless running behavior.

In contrast to No. 11, the boiler of the locomotive was 200 millimeters higher. No. 12 had a Latowski steam turret and a round sandpit.

The locomotive had a Heusinger control, the drive was on the second axle.

The locomotive was fitted with a Körting suction air brake for use on the Harzquerbahn .

The locomotive had an inner frame made of sheet metal, which also served as a water tank.
