The Lenz-Type x was a two - axle meter - gauge tank locomotive of the Halle-Hettstedter Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft .

history

In 1895 the Halle-Hettstedter Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft opened the meter-gauge industrial railway Halle (Saale) to serve some industrial companies , which was connected to the standard-gauge port railway of the same company. The machine works Christian Hagans supplied two locomotives with the serial numbers 302 and 303, which were classified as type x by the operating company Lenz & Co. and thus designated as 3x and 4x. This assignment is probably a special solution, as the locomotives differ from the usual Lenz locomotives.

In 1949 this line came to the Deutsche Reichsbahn and the locomotives were given the numbers 99 5801 and 5802.

In 1967 and 1968 both locomotives were taken out of service due to boiler damage.

technical features

The locomotives had a Stephenson control, the drive was on the second axle.

The water tank was in the frame, and water tanks were probably only added later to the right and left of the boiler as an extension of the coal tank.

The locomotives had no coupling, only a pull rod, as they only carried roll stands .
