ELNA 6 is the name of a series of four-axle tank locomotives that were built according to the ELNA standards . The ELNA 6 have a D wheel arrangement. They are the heaviest and largest locomotives in the ELNA range and are designed for mainline and heavy shunting. They reach a top speed of 40 km / h.

technical features

Like all ELNA locomotives, the ELNA 6 have a copper fire box. The frame is made of 20 mm thick sheet metal, between which the water tank is suspended. The drive takes place on the third axle, the axles cannot be moved sideways. The locomotives have piston valves and an external Heusinger control.

history

Seven locomotives were delivered to the Halle-Hettstedter Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft alone ; other railways usually received no more than two locomotives of this type. New locomotives went to the Weimar-Berka-Blankenhainer Railway , the Ohlauer Kleinbahn , the Liegnitz-Rawitscher Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (2), the Greifenberger Kleinbahn , the Kleinbahn Casekow – Penkun – Oder , the Pyritzer Kleinbahnen , the Nauendorf-Gerlebogker Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (2), the Gardelegen-Haldensleben-Weferlinger Eisenbahn , the Aschersleben-Schneidlingen-Nienhagener Eisenbahn (2) and the Bunzlauer Kleinbahn AG (2).

The ELNA 6 was also included in the war locomotive program as KDL 4. The French locomotive manufacturer Schneider in Le Creusot delivered 67 locomotives from 1944 to 1946, which were taken over by the SNCF after the war as the 040 TX1 to 67 series.

After the war, three more machines were assembled at Henschel & Sohn from leftover parts in 1946 . Two of them drove on the Farge-Vegesacker Railway , one on the Rinteln-Stadthagener Railway .

The machines taken over by the DR in 1949 were included in the numbering scheme as series 92.29 and 92.64. The three machines 92.29 were locomotives of the former Görlitzer Kreisbahn , which had a counter-pressure brake.

Whereabouts

Two locomotives of the Hersfeld Kreisbahn are still preserved today: HKB 2 on the Franconian Switzerland steam railway and HKB 4 in the mining museum Grube Anna II in Alsdorf. The locomotive replicated for the Rinteln-Stadthagener Railway is now in the Kranichstein Railway Museum .
