Museum railway in the Wiesent valley

The steam train Franconian Switzerland e. V. (DFS) is a non-profit association that has existed since April 16, 1974 and is based in Ebermannstadt .

Club goals are:

  • Establishment, operation and maintenance of a museum railway on the former Ebermannstadt – Behringersmühle line in the Wiesent valley
  • Acquisition and preservation of historic rail vehicles, particularly with reference to the Ebermannstadt – Behringersmühle branch line
  • Organization of lectures, guided tours, trips and exhibitions

The association has also had a license to operate a railway since 1980 and has been an approved railway transport and infrastructure company since then . The DFS is the oldest museum railway in Franconia .

Between May 1st and October 31st, the trains of the museum train run according to schedule on Sundays and public holidays. For museum operations, DFS has a fleet of four steam locomotives , one accumulator locomotive, four diesel locomotives and one diesel railcar, as well as a number of historic passenger carriages, especially blunderbusses and conversion wagons .
