The Bamberg District Court is a court of ordinary jurisdiction and one of 18 district courts in the district of the Bamberg Higher Regional Court.

The court has its seat in Bamberg , Bavaria . The judicial district covers the area of ​​the urban district of Bamberg and the district of Bamberg with a total of around 212,800 inhabitants.

history

On the occasion of the introduction of the Courts Constitution Act on October 1, 1879, two local courts were established in Bamberg. The regional courts of the older order Bamberg I and Bamberg II were combined to form the Bamberg II district court. However, a distinction was still made between two sub-districts, Bamberg II district court, first part (eastern half) and Bamberg II district court, second part (western half). The city of Bamberg, which is directly in the district, formed the Bamberg I District Court from 1879 onwards. In 1903, these two district courts were combined to form the Bamberg District Court. With effect from January 1, 1932, the district court of Burgebrach and the district court of Scheßlitz were repealed and their districts were merged with the district of the district court of Bamberg.
