List of RENFE locomotive and railcar series
The list of locomotive and multiple unit series of the RENFE provides an overview of the locomotive and multiple unit series of the Spanish state railway Red Nacional de los Ferrocarriles Españoles (RENFE). This was created in 1941 through the merger and nationalization of the private broad-gauge railways, in particular the Compañía de los Caminos de Hierro del Norte de España , Compañía del Ferrocarril de Madrid a Zaragoza y Alicante (MZA) , Compañía de los Ferrocarriles Andaluces and Compañía Nacional de los Ferrocarriles del Oeste . Series with a gray background are still in active service.
Steam locomotives
The first three numbers of the series stand for the wheel arrangement according to the French designation scheme .
