The Oaris is a high-speed , distributed drive train from the Spanish manufacturer Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (CAF). In 2011 a prototype was being tested.
history
The Oaris has its origins in the state-funded AVI 2015 project and was first presented to the public in May 2010 on the occasion of the international railway exhibition in Valencia in the form of a mock-up.
In September 2010, CAF began assembling the first prototype (25 kV + 3 kV) at the Beasain plant , which has been tested in stationary fashion since January 2011. By the end of 2010, CAF had invested fifty million euros in the development.
technology
The Oaris should run at 320 km / h in normal rail operations , but was designed for around 10% higher speeds and should reach up to 350 km / h. CAF plans to offer the train for both normal gauge of 1435 mm and Iberian broad gauge (1668 mm). It is also possible to equip it with bogies that can change lanes .
A train consists of two end cars with a length of 26.78 m each and two, four or six middle cars with a length of 24.78 m each. The total length will be 100, 150 or 200 m depending on the number of intermediate cars.
One bogie per car is driven by two asynchronous motors with an output of 660 kW each. The smallest multiple unit variant with four cars and eight engines has a total drive power of 5,280 kW. The 200 m long variant with eight cars and 16 engines will be motorized with a total of 10,560 kW.
variants
The first variant of the Oaris is to go into operation at the Spanish railway company RENFE as class 105 .
The Norwegian Flytoget AS has ordered eight Oaris for 250 km / h, which should go into operation in 2018.
CAF is also participating in various tenders with the Oaris , including in Brazil for the connection between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro and the Boston-Washington line in the United States .
