The flytoget is a Norwegian railway company, which operate on the Gardermobanen performs. The company is owned by the Norwegian state under the administration of the Nærings- og fiskeridepartementet .

history

In 1992 the Norwegian Storting decided to build the new airport in Gardermoen . A fast rail connection between the airport and the capital Oslo was preferred from the start. In the same year, Norges Statsbaner (NSB) received the order to build a double-track high - speed line , the first of its kind in Norway.

In 1996 NSB Gardermobanen AS was entrusted with the operation of the railway. Due to problems with the construction of the Romeriksporten tunnel, after the opening in October 1998, traffic was initially routed via a bypass route. In August 1999 the tunnel was ready for operation and the railway was able to offer full service.

The construction costs for the entire project amounted to 10 billion crowns, at the time well over 2 billion DM.

In 2000, Storting decided to take Norges Statsbaner (NSB) out of responsibility and, at the beginning of 2001, to hand over the operation to the new transport company Flytoget AS . The development of the transport company was complete.

The infrastructure, i.e. track and signal systems, electrical supply, train stations, etc. are now the responsibility of various business areas of Jernbaneverket .

In December 2002 the parliament decided to transform Flytoget AS into a separate state company under the leadership of the Ministry of Transport . Since 2004 Flytoget AS has been operating as an independent company of the Norwegian Ministry of Commerce and Economy.

In 2005, Flytoget AS already had 2.22 million passengers from January to June, more than in the comparable period ever before.

vehicles

The 16 electrically powered high-speed trains of the type GMB Type 71 manufactured by Adtranz for NSB are used . The trains are designed as four-part open- plan cars and are equipped with air conditioning and a passenger information system. They reach speeds of up to 210 km / h.

In addition, eight CAF Oaris railcars with a speed of 250 km / h have been ordered and will go into operation in 2018.
