The railcar series BM 71 is an electric multiple unit train from Flytoget AS (1996-2001 Norges Statsbaner (NSB)) for high-speed traffic, it is also called Flytoget ("flight train").
In 1996 NSB Gardermobanen AS was entrusted with the operation of the railway. In 2000 the Norwegian Storting decided to take NSB out of responsibility and, at the beginning of 2001, to hand over the operation to the new transport company Flytoget AS .
technology
The car bodies were built by Adtranz in Kalmar and transported by truck to Strømmen , where the final assembly was carried out.
The electrically powered high-speed trains manufactured by Adtranz in 1998 are designed as open- plan cars and are pressure-tight. In a three-part train composition, they offered space for 170 passengers in one class and operated in the carriage sequence BM + BMU + BFM.
Due to the increasing number of passengers, the three- car trains were converted into four-car trains in 2008/09 with a powered intermediate car supplied by Bombardier Transportation with the series designation BMX. They were also equipped with new air conditioning systems and a passenger information system. Since then the car sequence has been BM + BMX + BMU + BFM.
commitment
The high-speed train runs with a top speed of 210 km / h every ten minutes between Oslo Sentralstasjon and Oslo-Gardermoen Airport and every 20 minutes between Asker west of Oslo and the airport. The journey time on the 48 km long cloakroom between the airport and Oslo city center is 19 minutes.
