Alvia
The Spanish railway company Renfe operates under the train type name Alvia , high-speed trains that can be re- gauged , which can run in both the regular- gauge AVE network electrified with 25 kV AC voltage at 50 Hz and in the broad-gauge network spanned with 3 kV . A characteristic of the train units used is that they can be completely re-gauged between 1435 and 1668 mm in a short time without changing locomotives.

Series 120
The Spanish railway company Renfe designates a series of twelve re-gaugable, four-part high-speed multiple units as class 120 . Thanks to the CAF Bravo system, re-gauging is possible in around one minute. The twelve multiple units were supplied by CAF and Alstom . Eight of the sixteen axles in a unit are powered. In 2005 another 16 trains were ordered.
Number: 28
Top speed: 250 km / h (25 kV), 220 km / h (3 kV)
Series 121

In 2004 Renfe ordered a further 29 trains, which are run as the 121 series . The trains are essentially identical to those of the 120 series, the most important differences being the elimination of the first class and the cafeteria, which increases the seating capacity from 237 to 281. The first trains of the 121 series began service in January 2009 and are mainly used on medium-haul connections.
Number: 29
Top speed: 250 km / h (25 kV), 220 km / h (3 kV)
130/730 series

The 130 series are trackable high-speed trains produced by the Spanish manufacturer Patentes Talgo (manufacturer's name: Talgo 250) in cooperation with Bombardier . Renfe uses them primarily on long-haul connections, taking into account the existing AVE standard gauge network. Due to the visual similarity to the Talgo 350 , this train is also known colloquially as Patito (German for "duckling"). Since commissioning of the high-speed line between Madrid and Valladolid run there daily eight pairs of trains with units of the 130 series and tie beyond over the existing broad gauge network and. a. Santander , Bilbao and Irún directly to the state capital.
Fifteen units of the 130 series were converted into two-power units (incorrectly referred to as hybrid vehicles) of the 730 series, replacing the Talgo end cars with generator cars.
Number: 45
Top speed: 250 km / h (25 kV), 220 km / h (3 kV)
Incidents
