Chen Deng

Chén Dēng ( Chinese  陳 登  /  陈 登 , * 170 ; † 209 ), came of age Yuanlong , was a strategist of the late Han dynasty .

He lived in Xu Province with his father, Chen Gui . When the warlord Lü Bu conquered it in 193 and drove out the governor Liu Bei , Chen Deng submitted to the warlord in order to plan his overthrow. Despite warnings from his adviser Chen Gong , Lu Bu and his troops went out against the powerful warlord Cao Cao , but had to withdraw after a crushing defeat. During his absence, Chen Deng took control of the city and denied Lu Bu entry. He turned the city over to Cao Cao and entered Liu Bei's service.

Lu Bu was forced to retreat to Xiapi , his last bastion. There he was betrayed by officers Song Xian and Wei Xu in his last battle and executed by Cao Cao .
