Wei Xu

Wei Xu ( Chinese  魏 續  /  魏 续 , Pinyin Wèi Xù ) was a general of the warlord Lü Bu in the late Han period and at the time of the Three Kingdoms in ancient China.

When the warlord Cao Cao Lu Bu besieged in Xiapi in 198 , Wei Xu, Hou Cheng and Song Xian Lu abducted chief counselor Chen Gong and fled. Lü Bu himself was soon captured and executed. Wei Xu's further fate is unknown.

In fiction

The figure of Wei Xu obtained in the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Luo Guanzhong a clearer profile. In Chapter 19, Wei Xu's colleague and friend Hou Cheng is beaten up by Lü Bu for breaking the alcohol ban. The angry men plot with Song Xian and betray Lü Bu to Cao Cao.

Under cover of night, Hou Cheng Lü Bus steals the famous Red Hare warhorse and rides with him to Cao Cao's camp. When Cao Cao's attack the next morning, Lu Bu personally defended the walls until noon. Then he takes a nap on the city wall because he was exhausted. Song Xian and Wei Xu handcuff him and show Cao Cao a white flag. Then they threw Lü Bus's halberd outside the walls, and in a short time the city was in Cao Cao's hands.

In chapter 25, Song Xian is killed in a duel by Yuan Shao's general Yan Liang during the Battle of Baima . Wei Xu, who wants to avenge his friend, is also slain.
