Chenjiagou

Chenjiagou ( Chinese  陳家溝 村  /  陈家沟 村 , Pinyin Chénjiāgōu Cūn ) is a village of the large community Zhaobao ( 趙 堡鎮  /  赵 堡镇 ) of the district Wen ( 溫縣  /  温县 ), which is the administrative area of the prefecture city Jiaozuo in the Chinese province of Henan .

The village is home to the Chen family clan and the historical origins of Taijiquan , founded in the 14th century by Chen Bu from Shanxi Province .

The Shanxi Province apparently suffered from overpopulation at the time, so several families were relocated to the neighboring Henan Province, which was clearly underpopulated as a result of acts of war. Chen Bu and his family first founded Chenbuzhuang and two years later relocated to what is now Chenjiagou, which had better conditions for farming.

However, it was necessary to clear the area of bandits, and so the Chen family was already known for their martial arts. Chen Bu presumably brought them with him from Hongtong City.

Chenjiagou became famous as the historical place of origin of the internal martial art Taijiquan and in particular as the home of the Chen style of this art, from which the other well-known styles such as Yang style , Wu Hao style, Wu style , Sun style etc. developed. According to the historian Tang Hao ( 唐 豪 , 1897–1959) and the Chen Taiji master Gu Liuxin, the Chen style Taijiquan goes back to General Chen Wangting , who lived in the ninth generation in Chenjiagou (the ancestor of the Chen Bu family clan considered the first generation in the Chen Klan in Chenjiagou). The tradition of the Yang family and the research of Wu Tunan in Chenjiagou name the wushu master Jiang Fa ( 蔣 發  /  蒋 发 , Jiǎng Fā , Chiang Fa ) as Chen Changxing's Taijiquan teacher, who would have brought Taijiquan to Chenjiagou .

In addition, Chenjiagou has been an important archaeological site of the Longshan culture since April 2005 .
