Roberto Gómez Bolaños (born February 21, 1929 in Mexico City ; † November 28, 2014 in Cancún ) was a Mexican actor, screenwriter, songwriter, author, director, producer and creator of the television comedies "El Chavo" and "El Chapulín Colorado" . He was best known under the pseudonym Chespirito .

Life

In his youth, Gómez was a good amateur boxer and soccer player. He did not complete his engineering studies at UNAM (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México).

Gómez worked between 1950 and 1969 as a publicist and librettist for radio and television, including comedies . He appeared as a supporting actor in film and television.

From 1970 to 1995 Gómez had his own television comedy "Chespirito". There were two parts of this comedy (Gómez in the lead role), "El Chavo del Ocho" and "El Chapulín Colorado". The first part was about a boy who lived in a beer barrel in a Mexican village. The second part was about a funny and friendly superhero. Soon after, Roberto Gómez created other characters such as Dr. Chapatín, El Chompiras and Chaparrón Bonaparte. “Chespirito” has been dubbed in many languages ​​such as German, Chinese, Portuguese, Japanese, Russian, Greek, Arabic, Italian and French.

Roberto Gomez Bolaños also made numerous films ("El Chanfle", "don Ratón y don Ratero"), plays ("11 y 12") and books ("Sin Querer Queriendo", "Y También Poemas" and "El Diario de Chavo") del Ocho ").
