Chevreau leather

Chevreau leather (from "chevreau", French for kid ) is the name given to the tanned skin of the goat or young animal, the kid or kid.

Appearance and use

To make the Chevreau, the goat skin is chrome-tanned and dyed through or just primed. The fine Chevreau leather is polished with a light covering of opaque color. However, shining is only used for very high quality goods. The special characteristics of Chevreau leather are the silky, matt sheen and the crescent-shaped grain. It was and is used to make ice cream gloves . It is also used as a membrane in organ building . Sometimes it is also used to make high quality shoes.
