The China Energy Investment Corporation ( Chinese 國家 能源 投資 集團 有限 責任 公司 / 国家 能源 投资 集团 有限 责任 公司 , Pinyin Guójiā Néngyuán Tóuzī Jítuán Yǒuxiàn Zérèn Gōngsī ) is a state-owned mining and energy company, which is owned by the State Assets Control and Management Commission of the State Council of the People's Republic of China . With a turnover of over 75 billion US dollars, it was the 101st largest company in the world in 2017.
The company was created on August 28, 2017 from the state-regulated merger of the two companies China Guodian Corporation and the Shenhua Group . The Shenhua Group was restructured to the China Energy Investment Corporation and took over the China Guodian Corporation, which created the world's largest energy company by installed capacity and the largest producer of wind and coal power.
The company mines , processes and sells mainly hard coal , lignite , coke and other coal products. China Energy Investment also does power generation, railroad transportation, shipping, and other businesses. The company has now also started to invest in renewable energies .
