Chinewalking

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chinewalking describes the tilting of a very fast motorboat over its longitudinal axis .

It occurs in V-hull boats above a certain speed when the boat comes higher out of the water due to the dynamic buoyancy . Then only part of the width of the boat is in contact with the water and the boat tips over from one side to the other. Chinewalking can also lead to the boat overturning if the speed is too high. With correctly adjusted trim tabs and a good reaction from the skipper, it can be delayed, but not prevented or really controlled.
