According to the Real Academia Española, a chiringuito (pronunciation [ ʧiriŋˈgito ]) is an outdoor kiosk or drinks stand . In German, the term is also translated as snack bar or beach bar. Chiringuitos are located on the beaches of Spain, according to the magazine Historia de Iberia vieja , the first chiringuito opened in 1913 in Sitges , a seaside resort near Barcelona . The term chiringuito is said to have been used in Cuba to order a coffee maker . The mostly simple bars usually open at noon and close in the early evening. They offer ice cream and drinks as well as food, typical dishes are tapas , deep-fried, grilled and paella .
