description
The Chirnside Primary School is located on the south-east edge of Chirnside. The design for the school building was provided by the Edinburgh architectural firm Reid & Forbes , which had previously planned the Inverness Academy , Dalkeith Highschool , Niddrie Marischal School as well as Leith Academy and the nearby Kelso Academy . There are numerous architectural parallels to the latter. The two-story building was built between 1937 and 1938. The Art Deco building has an irregular, almost Z-shaped floor plan. Sandstone details stand out from the Harl- plastered masonry. The five-story tower to the left of the center is striking, at the foot of which is the entrance area.
