The Chitrakote Falls is a waterfall near the town of Jagdalpur in the district of Bastar in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh .
It is the widest waterfall in India and is therefore also called "Indian Niagara ". Especially in the monsoons between July and October, the horseshoe-shaped chitrakot shows its imposing size. The Indravati River , a tributary of the Godavari , overcomes a height difference of 29 m at this waterfall. The waterfall is 38 km west of Jagdalpur and can only be reached by road. There is also a landing pad for helicopters, but it is only used by the authorities. There are several small hotels and restaurants near the waterfall.
