Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (song)

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is a song composed and written by the Sherman brothers in 1968 . In the version sung by Dick Van Dyke and Sally Ann Howes , it was used as a film song in the film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Song .

The song is about a wonder car of the same name that can drive, swim and fly. The song was also used in the musical of the same name, which premiered at the Palladium in London in 2002 .

The song has been covered several times, including The Shadows , Percy Faith , Alvin and the Chipmunks and Franck Pourcel . A German version of the song with a text by Günter Loose was sung by Rex Gildo . Eddie Higgins wrote a jazz version .
