Chizu Kobayashi

Chizu Kobayashi ( Japanese小林 千寿, Kobayashi Chizu ; born September 28, 1954 in Matsumoto , Nagano Prefecture ) is a professional Japanese Go player (5th Dan).

Career and activity

Kobayashi is a student of Minoru Kitani. In 1972, at the age of 18, she passed the entrance examination of the Japanese professional go association Nihon Ki-in and became a professional player with the rank of first dan . She has won various titles in women's championships. Currently she has reached the rank of fifth dan.

Kobayashi was and is a teacher of many Go talents such as Benjamin Teuber, Mérö Czaba, Ondrej Silt, Hans Pietsch and Sorin Gherman. As Special Advisor for Cultural Exchange of the Japanese Bunka-chō (Agency for Cultural Affairs) she teaches go players across Europe.
