Choku-zuki

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Choku-Zuki [ ˈtʃokɯˌzɯki ] ( Japanese 直 突 き , chokuzuki ) is an elementary attack technique in the Budō discipline of karate and the general term for a straight punch forward.

The term Choku-Zuki does not define a leg position for the execution, so it describes a pure arm technique. It is performed in a symmetrical basic position such as Heiko-Dachi , Kiba-Dachi or Shiko-Dachi . In the case of asymmetrical leg positions, a distinction is made between specific sub-forms depending on the version in relation to the leg position / movement, such as Oi-Zuki (equal punch), Gyaku-Zuki (mutual punch), Kizami-Zuki (bounce).
