House Provence

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The House of Provence is the family of the first Counts of Provence who ruled the south of what was then the Kingdom of Burgundy from the middle of the 10th century to the beginning of the 12th century.

The extinction of the older line led in the 11th century to the secession of the western part, which went to the House of Toulouse , while the eastern part (after the County of Forcalquier had previously been temporarily separated) came to the House of Barcelona .
