County of Arles
The county of Arles was a rulership in the vicinity of Arles from the 9th to the 11th centuries, but did not include the city of Arles , which had been under the rule of the local archbishop since 921.
The best-known Count of Arles was Boso the Old , the progenitor of the Bosonids , whose great-grandson Hugo became King of Italy. In the 10th century, the county came to the Counts of Provence , who used the county of Arles several times to care for younger sons. When this practice ended, the county of Arles became part of the county of Provence.
