Chondwe

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chondwe is an archaeological site and village in the Copperbelt province 30 kilometers south of Ndola in Zambia .

The pieces found are ceramics that are assigned to those of Kapwirimbwe as being at the same time. They come from an early Iron Age culture. These finds in the Lunsemfwa Basin are the basis for the assumption that Iron Age farmers and hunters and gatherers lived here peacefully and did not fight for the same resources. The finds are also classified as a Chongwe group. This group also includes the finds in Roan Antelope and Kangonga, which are very similar. No ethnic assignment has been made so far. There is no evidence of population exchange during this period.

The place is now an agricultural area. There is a prison nearby.
