Chongqing Grand Theater
The Chongqing Grand Theater is the central opera house in the city of Chongqing in the People's Republic of China . It is located in Jiangbei District , right at the mouth of the Jialing Jiang River and the Yangtze River .
The opera house was built from 2005 to 2009 according to plans by the German architects Gerkan, Marg and Partners . The room acoustics concept was created by Müller-BBM . The object is 220 meters long, 110 meters wide, 64 meters high and stands on a two-story base. The two concert halls set against each other have stage towers that look like two chimneys of a futuristic ship. The opera house is completely glazed and is illuminated by LED panels at night.
