Jiangbei ( Chinese  江北 区 , Pinyin Jiāngběi Qū ) is a district of the government-direct city of Chongqing in the People's Republic of China. Jiangbei has an area of 213.52 km². In the 2000 and 2010 censuses, Jiangbei had 609,619 and 738,003 residents, respectively.

Administrative structure

At the community level, Jiangbei consists of nine street districts and three large communities . These are:

"Liangjiang New District"

With the exception of the large communities of Fusheng and Wubao, the entire area of Jiangbeis also became part of the so-called "New District" Liangjiang (两 江 新区Liǎngjiāng Xīnqū ) founded on June 18, 2010 . It also includes parts of the Yubei and Beibei boroughs . However, Liangjiang is purely a measure to promote economic development; H. Liangjiang is not a city district in the administrative sense. It is administered by the "Liangjiang New District Development and Development Committee" (两 江 新区 开发 建设 领导 小组Liangjiang Xinqu kaifa jianshe lingdao xiaozu ), which is made up of representatives from Chongqing City and the districts concerned. Accordingly, Jiangbei will retain its previous administrative boundaries with its people's government and the associated political structures (People's Congress, Consultative Conference), at least for the time being.

Partnerships

Jiangbei has been twinned with the city of North Las Vegas , USA , since 2015.
