Shapingba ( Chinese  沙坪坝 区 , Pinyin Shāpíngbà Qū ) is a Chinese municipality in the government- direct city ​​of Chongqing . The municipality has an area of ​​383.45 km². In 2000 and 2010 censuses, Shapingba counted 789,359 and 1,000,013 residents, respectively.
