Nanchuan ( Chinese  南川 区 , Pinyin Nánchuān Qū ) is a southwest Chinese municipality of the government- direct city ​​of Chongqing . It has an area of ​​2,602 km². In 2000 and 2010 censuses, Nanchuan counted 631,853 and 534,329 residents, respectively.

Jinfoshan National Park

In the south of Nanchuan is the Jinfoshan (金 佛山) Mountains , after which the Jinfoshan National Park (金 佛山 风景 名胜 区) with its famous Ginkgowald is named. The pigeon tree ( Cathaya argyrophylla ) also grows here. Since 2014, Jinfoshan has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site “ Karst Landscapes in South China ”.

Partnerships

Nanchuan has been twinned with the city of Linden , Guyana , since 2011.
