Wanzhou ( Chinese  万州 区 , Pinyin Wànzhōu Qū ), formerly Wan County ( Wanxian ), is a Chinese municipality in the government- direct city ​​of Chongqing . Wanzhou has an area of ​​3,457 km². In 2000 and 2010 censuses, Wanzhou had 1,648,870 and 1,563,050 residents, respectively.
