Chora is a CVS viewer for the Horde framework based on PHP . Chora requires an executable Horde installation in order to function.
The basics of Chora are heavily based on the FreeBSD - CVSweb -Script. Chuck Hagenbuch ported some code from Perl -based CVSweb to PHP for Chora. After Hagenbuch was finished, Anil Madhavapeddy rewrote the code (supposedly because he just didn't understand it) and introduced a PHP-based CVSlib . From version 2.0 alpha Chora mastered the ability next to CVS and Subversion - repositories represent.
Naming
The name did not arise directly from the Greek word χώρα ("land, matter, space"), but from the novel series Wheel of Time (German: The wheel of time ) by Robert Jordan . There is a tree of life in it called Chora . The program authors Hagenbuch and Madhavapeddy liked the way trees are based on CVS Trees. That's why they chose Chora as the name of their new application.
