Alfred Kornprobst
Alfred Kornprobst (born July 28, 1940 in Nuremberg ; † June 7, 1991 ) was a German weightlifter .
Career
Alfred Kornprobst grew up in Nuremberg . As a student, he was initially in the gymnastics club, but began lifting weights at TSV Sandow Nürnberg at the age of 14. In 1958 he became German youth champion with a good 275 kg in the class up to 60 kg body weight. The transition to the top German class of active athletes was seamless. In the course of the next 10 years he was always represented in the top German league, even if he had to take long breaks due to injuries. He achieved his best performance with the 8th place at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964 in the lightweight with 385 kg. In 1972 he ended his career, but started again in team fights for TSV Altenberg from 1983 .
Alfred Kornprobst died at the age of 51 after a long and serious illness.
