Mihály Huszka

Mihály Huszka [ ˈmihaːj ˈhuskɒ ] (* 1933 ) is a former Hungarian weightlifter .

Career

Huszka He comes from Csongrád and started lifting weights in 1952. In 1957 he made the leap into the Hungarian national weightlifting team, whose coach at that time was Sándor Gere. In 1959 he was allowed to start at a world championship for the first time. In the next few years he took part in many major international events and achieved many good results. Twice - in 1962 and 1963 - he was runner-up in the middleweight division. In 1963 he was defeated by Alexander Kurynow from the Soviet Union with the same performance of 437.5 kg only due to the slightly higher body weight.

Huszka emigrated to Austria with his wife in 1965 and tried to continue his weightlifting career in Vienna , but did not succeed.

He then accepted an offer from the USA and worked there for years as a trainer for American weightlifters.
