Christ the King Priory is a Benedictine monastery north of Schuyler , Nebraska , in the United States . It was founded in 1935 by the Münsterschwarzach Abbey (Lower Franconia). It belongs to the Congregation of the Missionary Benedictines of St. Ottilien and is a member of the Benedictine Confederation . As a Benedictine Mission House , the monastery was primarily intended to guarantee the survival of the congregation's missionary work during the Nazi dictatorship. In 1979 the monastery building, which was built into the hilly landscape in a unique way, was completed by the architects Astle and Ericson (Salt Lake City, Omaha ). In 1985 the monastery was raised to a priory . Today the monks work primarily as fundraisers in the United States for the Congregation's missions around the world. They also run a retreat house and support people of Hispanic origin with their immigration problems.

St. Benedict Center

In 1997 the Benedictine priory expanded its tasks to include a retreat and guest house. At the St. Benedict Center, the Benedictines offer their hospitality and spirituality to all who are looking for personal and spiritual growth. They welcome both individuals and groups of all Christian denominations. The retreat house also operates a bookshop.
