Christelle Dabos

Christelle Dabos (born 1980 on the Côte d'Azur ) is a French fantasy writer.

biography

Dabos grew up in a family of musicians in Cannes on the Côte d'Azur. She wrote her first stories while high school and joined Plume d'Argent , an online community for writers. Before she devoted herself entirely to writing, she trained as a librarian . She has lived and worked in Belgium since 2005 .

Literary career

In 2013 she was awarded the Prix du premier roman jeunesse Gallimard for the first volume of her tetralogy Die Spiegelreisen - Die Verlobten des Winters . The prize was launched on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Gallimard Jeunesse, together with Télerama and RTL France. The short story Le Passe-Muraille , The Man Who Walked Through Walls , by Marcel Aymé inspired the title of her saga.

The Mirror Traveler tells the adventures of Ophelia, who has the gift of “reading” the past of objects and traveling from one place to another through mirrors. She lives in a world that consists of 21 arks and is inhabited by different family clans. In 2017 she published the third volume of the saga, which was a great success for the Gallimard Jeneusse publishing house. The series has already been compared in the French press to Harry Potter by JK Rowling and The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman . The first two parts received the Grand prix de l'imaginaire in the French youth novel category 2016.
