The Catholic Ascension Church ( lit. Utenos Kristaus Žengimo į dangų bažnyčia ) is a parish church in Utena on the left bank of the Utenėlė , in the Lithuanian diocese of Panevėžys . It is made of brick .

history

In 1500 a previous church was mentioned for the first time in a document. In 1522 parts of the Utena and Užpaliai estates were donated to the church. In 1796 it was the city's parish church. Today's neo-baroque brick church with a dome and a two -tower portal front was built between 1882 and 1884 with the help of pastor Adomas Vyšniauskas .
