Christian Dolfen

Christian Dolfen (born December 26, 1877 in Cologne-Ehrenfeld , † May 15, 1961 in Osnabrück ) was a German Catholic clergyman and archivist .

Life

Christian Dolfen, whose parents died at an early age, attended the Redemptorist college in Vaals and then from 1899 to 1905 the Redemptorist scholasticate in Trier and at Geistingen Monastery . From 1906 to October 1914 he had a teaching assignment for church history at the Scholastikat. In October 1914 he became a chaplain in the 10th Replacement Division . From December 1918 he worked as an archivist in the Vicariate General Osnabrück , and also head (since 1927 director) of the Diocesan Museum. In 1933 he was at the University of Münster Dr. theol. PhD . In 1956 he retired.

In 1952 he received the Justus Möser Medal , the city of Osnabrück's highest award, and in 1954 the Federal Cross of Merit . The Dolfenstrasse in Osnabrück is named after him.
