Christian Fritsche

Christian Fritsche (born in the 20th century ) is a German disabled athlete .

Life

Christian Fritsche is severely disabled. Nevertheless, he wanted to do sports. As a sport, he chose swimming , in which he specialized in short distances. His favorite discipline was the breaststroke . Since he performed particularly well on the 50 m breaststroke, he was appointed to the German national handicapped swimming team. With this team he took part in the starting class SB3 and S4 at the 1996 Paralympic Summer Games in Atlanta , where he became Olympic champion in the 50 m breaststroke and thus the gold medal winner in this discipline. He also won a silver medal in the 50 m butterfly . At the IPC Swimming World Championships in Christchurch in 1998 he won three gold medals in the 50 m breaststroke, 50 m butterfly and the 4 x 50 m individual medley.

For his medal successes in Atlanta he was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by the Federal President .
