Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch (born July 1, 1961 in Lausanne ) is a Swiss lawyer and since April 1, 2011 Director of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and Director of the Directorate for Foreign Trade.

Career

She studied at the University of Bern Law . After graduating in 1987, she worked for the management consultant McKinsey in Zurich. After positions at the Federal Office for Foreign Trade (now SECO) and the World Bank in Washington, DC , Ineichen-Fleisch became Section Head in the World Trade Organization (WTO) department of the Federal Office for Foreign Trade in 1995 .

From 2007 she was ambassador and delegate of the Federal Council for trade agreements and chief negotiator for Switzerland at the World Trade Organization in Geneva. She has been Director of SECO since 2011.

In an interview with Schweizer Illustrierte , she said: "It is good for Switzerland when clever women pull the strings in administration and associations." Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch speaks German, French, English, Italian, Spanish, Chinese and Russian.
